The RibBracket III did not fit my 5-rib exposed fastener roof. The rib top width and angle matched perfectly, but my ribs were not tall enough, so the bracket could not conform. The brochures don't emphasize rib height, and that could be made more clear.
I wound up exchanging these for Protea brackets (thanks to customer service for accepting my return). Protea costs more but fits anything.
Saved racking expense, just right for PBR metal roofs. DIY-friendly. Good vendor, too.
I'm DIY installing Canadian Solar 455W panels flush-mounted on my screw-down, 2:12 pitched PBR roof. Many how-to videos and A.I. bot consultations led me to the S-5 RibBracket III with the PVKIT® 2.0 choice, thus obviating side rails and enabling this old boy (I'm 70!) to get the job done all by myself.
Some user tips: Go slow, measure thrice; it's do-able. Also, be sure and get your under-panel wiring arranged/clipped, and affix your ground lugs and copper grounding wire, before locking your panel into place with these products.
Having never used flush mounting before, much less this product, I particularly liked this video: https://youtu.be/NZHrHjxzkYQ?si=12fvO70Ki0LpcFe2
A warning: With this roof-mount choice, you’re permanently committed to what the sun provides 24/7/365 based on your roof’s solar positioning. There is no seasonal, panel re-tilt option.
The upside to that is installation simplicity and minimal exposure to potential wind damage. The downside is that, for my home at least, late Fall and Winter will yield less solar energy than my already existing, tilt-mount panels powering an older, preexisting system on my roof.
Finally, kudos to Shafer Metals for prompt good service!
Ordered over weekend, shipped Monday, arrived Wednesday. Good price, fast ship, first place to check when I need more.
