SHARKSKIN ULTRA SA® is a “state of the art” high temp rated peel and stick roof underlayment developed in 2006. Available in both 48" and 8" widths. By combining the heavy Sharkskin Ultra® substrate with an aggressive adhesive coating technology, Kirsch Research and Development created an “All Weather Barrier” that is easier to install in both cold and hot temperatures. Engineered as ‘secondary water barrier” to protect residential property and commercial buildings from water leaks due to high wind events such as hurricanes, tornadoes and hail.

SHARKSKIN ULTRA SA® is patented. The self-adhered synthetic roof underlayment protects against winter ice dam conditions. When installed under metal, tile, slate and asphalt shingle roof systems it acts as an ‘Ice Barrier'. This product is Green and supports LEEDS, contains no asphalt or VOC’s.

SHARKSKIN ULTRA SA® severe weather underlayment can be installed over a many different substrates in freezing weather. As well as the following:

awesome product/cooler the better

I purchased 10 rolls of the sharkskin ultra SA for my dry in on my timber frame ceiling decking. I have never installed a self-adhesive underlayment before, so it was a bit of a learning curve starting out. We learned quickly that the product definitely sticks like they say! Keeping it tight and straight according to the ley lines is crucial to a good install in keeping out wrinkles. Another thing that we noticed during the install was as the day heated up, the more difficult it was to get the release liner to smoothly turn loose which ended up being the hardest part of the job in my opinion. We actually set up work lights when it got cooler in the evening so that we could take advantage of the cool evening/night temp to finish the job. We got 3 inches of rain the next day and the SA performed flawlessly.

Shipping was less than quoted and seller only charged the actual amount.
Couldn’t be happier with the product and the seller.
Only criticism I have is I wish they sold a 2 foot wide roll for use in valleys. That would save time in trying to cut valley pieces from full roll.

I appreciate the quick turn around received from Schaefer Metals, repeatedly. It is faster for me to get material from them rather than from local companies and a primary benefit is that they know their product. Too many companies "sell stuff" vs. "know what they sell." I have confidence in Schaefer.
